Garrett P. Lewis joined Heidell, Pittoni, Murphy & Bach, LLP as a partner in the White Plains office in 2009.

Mr. Lewis’ practice focuses on medical malpractice, drug product liability and civil rights litigation.  He has more than 30 years of federal and state civil litigation experience focusing on complex product and medical device litigation at the trial and appellate stages.

Mr. Lewis has represented major medical device corporations in birth defect litigation involving birth control devices and medications.  He has litigated matters dealing with suture breakage and product infection, and has concentrated on catastrophic injury cases secondary to cardiac and neurosurgical care, cancer misdiagnosis and obstetrical injuries with claims of neonatal injury.  He has also defended school districts, police officers and municipalities in civil rights cases, and has represented tobacco companies and lawyers in legal malpractice claims. 

Additionally, he was a prosecutor in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office and tried 15 murder cases to verdict.  Mr. Lewis has given presentations before insurance, medical and legal audiences.

Mr. Lewis is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Malpractice Committee, the New York County Lawyers Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.  He joins the ranks of many of HPM&B’s partners who have been named “Best Lawyers in America.”
